Frequently Asked Questions:
Is this fifty acres titled, insurable land that I can do as I wish with?
Yes, this land is yours. If you chose to have us only plant five acres of teak you may. If you chose to cut a whole in the middle of the plantation to put a home you may. Belize is very stable and at this time 40% of the owned land in Belize is owned by foreigners.
Do I need to worry about insects or pests damaging or destroying my trees?
No, teak is very durable and has very few pests that can not be dealt with. Occasionally, cutter ants do attack the leaves. It is not detrimental to the trees lasting health but, we do remove the vector when found with the most environmentally safe process.
You mention a fire line, do I need to worry about fire?
Like the insects, the trees are very durable and when they become mature the trees are not affected by fire. But, up until their maturity we do provide the fire line to protect them.
Do I have to worry about hurricanes?
The plantation is sixty miles inland based in a valley plane area in which there are no records over the past one hundred years of hurricanes causing any problems.
What if I want to sell my investment before my trees are harvested?
You have the right to sell land and or your trees at any time to whomever you choose. We will be happy to assist in the sale because we are in contact with ongoing investors.
Will too many plantations result in lower prices for my teak?
Plantations today produce less than 1% of the tropical hardwoods consumed in the world. Meanwhile, nearly 50 million acres of rainforest are being destroyed every year. It is unlikely that enough plantations can ever be established to keep tropical hardwood prices from spiraling out of sight.
Are you cutting down any existing forest to plant your trees?
No. We are planting our trees only in areas which have been previously deforested – primarily former pasture. The land is what we call second growth.
Can I come to Belize and see the land at any time?
Yes, this is your land and you can visit it as you like.
Is Belize Teak Futures maintaining a Green Environmental Concept?
Yes, our constant approach to our surrounding can be found in our process of planting, pesticide and herbicide programs.
Would you help me in planting my land if i do not buy land from you?
Yes, we have an independant company, Teak Consultants in which we will help you from the planning stages, to the cultivation and sales of your lumber.
